Berinag Home Stay

A wooden window frame opening onto a valley view

Four rooms.
One conversation.

There is no availability calendar on this site, because we would forget to update it and an out-of-date calendar is worse than none. Fill this in and a person will reply within a few hours.

  • A person answers, not a portal
  • Thirty per cent advance, balance on arrival
  • Every meal is already in the rate
  • Free cancellation up to fourteen days out
  • We will tell you the real weather odds for your dates

Step 1 · When

Minimum three nights. We do not sell two, and the reason is on the FAQ page.

Step 2 · Who

GuestsChildren under 6 free 2
RoomsFour in total 1

Step 3 · Which room

Step 4 · Meals & experiences

All meals are already in the room rate. These options only change what Kamla cooks for.

Anything with a car in it (charged at cost)

Step 5 · You

We need something to call you.

This is how we will reply.

A working address, please.

No payment is taken here. This opens WhatsApp with your details so a person can confirm the rooms are actually free.

What you are paying for

The rate is the rate

There is no service charge, no resort fee, no per-head activity pricing and no surcharge for a view. GST is not applicable at these tariffs under current rules. The only things added to a room rate are the drives, and those are charged at exactly what the driver charges us.

  • Three meals a day and tea, six or seven times, unrequested
  • Every walk, farm morning, cooking session, bonfire and telescope night
  • Laundry twice weekly on stays of five nights or more
  • Written directions, and somebody who comes out when they hear your car

What happens next

Five steps, and none of them is a portal

The whole thing usually takes two messages and about a day.

1

You send this form

It opens WhatsApp with your details already written out. Or email, if you would rather — same inbox.

2

Deepak replies

Within a few hours. Which rooms are actually free, and what the weather does on your dates, honestly.

3

Thirty per cent by UPI

That confirms it. We send a written confirmation, not an automated one.

4

Directions arrive

With landmarks, because the mapping application stops eight hundred metres short. Plus the driver's number if you asked for a pickup.

5

You arrive

Somebody comes out when they hear the car. Tea within four minutes. Dinner at seven.

Payment and policy

The short version

The full text is on the cancellation page and it is genuinely short.

01

Thirty per cent to confirm

By UPI or bank transfer. We will send the details; we never ask for card numbers and never will.

02

Balance on arrival

Cash or UPI. There is no card machine and the nearest one that works is fifty-five kilometres away.

03

Full refund fourteen days out

No questions, no form, no admin fee.

04

Half refund seven days out

And if the reason is illness, bereavement or a blocked road, the full amount, because those are not choices.

05

Inside seven days, no refund

With the same exceptions, applied generously. We have never once argued about this.

06

If the road closes on your departure day

You stay, free, and we help you rebook whatever needs rebooking.

Before you send it

Six things worth mentioning in the notes box

None of these are problems. All of them are much easier known in advance than discovered at seven o'clock.

A diet

Vegan, Jain, gluten-free, no onion or garlic, diabetic. The shop is fifty-five kilometres away, so this genuinely has to be known before you arrive.

A knee, a hip, a chest

It changes which room we give you and which walks Deepak suggests. Nobody will make anything of it.

An eighty-year-old

The Heritage Room is step-free and next to the dining table. Say so and we will hold it for you.

A very small child

The stairs to the upper rooms are steep, there is a cow, and there is an unfenced terrace. All manageable, all worth planning around.

A dog

Yes, with notice. Bhalu will be territorial for about an hour and then permanently delighted.

A birthday, an anniversary, a proposal

Kamla will make kheer and nobody will sing. Two people have proposed on the ridge at sunrise and both said yes, which we mention purely as data.

Choosing dates

What each month will actually give you

Before you commit, read the trade-off rather than the adjective. If your dates are wrong for what you are after, we would rather tell you now.

March – April

Rhododendron

Every north-facing slope turns red with buransh. Days reach 20 °C, nights fall to 6 °C. Walking weather, and the honey is at its palest.

  • Peaks visible ~7 days in 10
  • Buransh squash pressed here
  • Book 5 weeks ahead

May – June

The escape

The plains hit 45 °C and Berinag sits at 26 °C. Our busiest window. Apricots ripen in the second week of June and the orchard smells of them.

  • Peaks visible ~5 days in 10
  • River pools warmest now
  • Book 8 weeks ahead

July – September

Full volume

Cloud in the room, water everywhere, the whole valley roaring. Almost no other visitors. The mountains hide for weeks. The forest has never been greener.

  • Peaks visible ~1 day in 10
  • Leeches on forest trails
  • Lowest rates of the year

October – December

The clear window

The best mountain viewing of the year. Air scrubbed by the monsoon, humidity gone, Panchachuli standing up sharp at breakfast. Cold at night, brilliant by day.

  • Peaks visible ~9 days in 10
  • Photographers' season
  • Book 10 weeks ahead

January – February

Snow and silence

Snow falls two or three times, thirty centimetres at a go. The fire is lit at four and stays lit. Roads can close for a day. The sky at night is unreasonable.

  • Peaks visible ~8 days in 10
  • Darkest skies of the year
  • Bring a proper coat

Booking questions

The eight asked at this stage

Because we would forget to update it, and an out-of-date calendar is worse than none at all. Instead there is a person who answers within a few hours and knows exactly what is free.

No. Nothing is charged anywhere on this website. The form opens WhatsApp with your details written out, and a person confirms before any money moves.

Thirty per cent, by UPI or bank transfer. We send the details after confirming the rooms. We will never ask for a card number, a CVV or a one-time password.

Ten weeks for October to December, eight for May and June, two or three for anything else. In monsoon you can often write on a Tuesday and arrive on a Friday.

Yes, for forty-eight hours, without payment. We will tell you before the hold lapses.

Free, once, more than fourteen days ahead. Inside that we will still move it wherever we can refill the room, which outside peak season is usually.

Some, but booking direct is cheaper for you and considerably better for us, and you get a conversation rather than a confirmation email.

Yes — eleven guests, four nights minimum, from ₹12,600 a night with all meals. Ask on WhatsApp and Kamla will plan the menus with you.
